Why do viruses always start in other animals? What stops them from starting in humans?

My question is why do viruses harm thier host? It would make more sense if they didn't allowing the host to thrive and thus pass the virus on to others. If the virus kills off all its hosts then it is actually securing its own demise.

It's not that theres something in humans that prevents it. It's that often times with animal agriculture, the captive animal conditions are atrocious and can cause disease. This is just another zootic disease in the list of many that have occurred this way until now

Most viruses have reservoir host, which they don't hurt at all. Also it's your immune response the thing that hurts you most of the time, not the viruses themselves.

It's the immune system overreacting the problem. Even reservoir hosts have their immune system fight the viruses. I get it you are joking, but if the immune system didn't exist, the viruses would "melt" your entire body through lysis in due time.
