>>11529373Like the other anon said, there isn't an instructional manual or a straight way to it, most people who get good at it just start with a subject they're very curious about and get progressively deeper to satisfy their curiosity. People I know who get in linguistics don't even knew they liked the field, they just started learning languages and get curious about the patterns in them.
You must get interested and involved with those subjects in some way if you enjoy them, be it online communities dedicated to the subject, books, videos, courses, degrees, and the list goes on. MIT Open Courseware for example offers many open courses on linguistics and mathematics.
