How are you going to distribute a continent's worth of metal shavings and secure them so that they stay in place? Let's say you airdrop metal shavings. First of all the albedo increase is negligble as ice is already reflective; the fuel expended would also release a lot of greenhouse gas. But more significantly, the financial cost of that many flights would produce no immediate return on investment. Who the fuck is going to buy that much fuel for nothing in return for them? Unfortunately people can't give a shit about long-term security when short-term security is not guaranteed. That, and capitalism exploiting human greed.
Consider why we don't switch to electric cars and replace gas stations with battery swap stations. Batteries could be charged and stored by clean energy sources, the industry would be financially incentivized to invest in more optimal clean energy, and eventually there would be such a surplus of batteries that the price of battery swaps would plummet and new purposes for batteries would have to be discovered. Reasonable until you consider that oilfags have a vested interest in human misery, engaging in wars and contributing to environmental pollution simply because it's more profitable.
