Wrong retards. I/O stands for input/output. Meaning when it is on it is ready to receive input and when it is off it does not give an output.

It's opened and closed circuit not 0 and 1. Imagine it like an eye or vagina opening and closing. When a switch is connected to digital logic it can be open=1,closed=0 or open=0,closed=1 depending on the circuit.
