if you're asking what kind of math you can learn to do AI stuff alone, the only thing that comes to mind is numerical methods and linear algebra with stuff like SVD

The basis AI is constraint solving. Handbook of satisfiability by A. Biere describe it pretty well but it's a bit rough in algebra, so you should read about that first.
