What's the consensus on face masks to protect from corona? Should I be wearing one?
I can't find a N95 anywhere in my city.
Is there any way to craft a face mask at home that will reasonably protect you? Or would it be a waste of time?

if the droplets are not blocked, the water evaporates from around the virus and for several hours it's just the still-active virus floating - to block that you need a N95 or better mask.

surgical masks without a doubt help protect the healthy. the jury's still out on homemade cloth masks though. there are few studies on them, and they're a bit mixed

Anybody with an ounce of sense can see that masks will reduce transmission of respiratory diseases, even if they are not 100% effective. Masks are being discouraged in the west to reduce demand and consequent shortage.
