Tbh Chinese, Spanish and French/Russian (either one is fine) in that order.
Professionally speaking, Chinese people are very closed to people who are not proficient (and not just speak a few words, i'm talking B2 at least) in that language. They usually speak chinese with each other as long as there is at least one fellow chinese person, which can keep you out of the loop and be VERY frustrating, even if most of them speak reasonably good english, also, a lot of places outside of China have chinese speakers, which means you could get around pretty easily in Asia with only English and Chinese.
Spanish is kinda the same, lots of spanish speakers, and a lot of them suck at english, and even if you don't, they really appreciate you speaking their language. Same for french, albeit at a lesser level.
German speaking people are usually fluent in english, just like dutch, and while speaking one's language is always appreciated, it really doesn't matter for them anyway.
Russian is spoken by a lot of slavic countries, and a lot of them are active in research. Good for networking in that particular field, but really not for anything else.
Arabic is dogshit. They speak in dialects and while they pretend that they have a "literal arabic", they are almost unvariably shit at it and they will try to talk in their dialect as you try to be understanding. The entire arabic peninsula is like this and I fucking hate them for that. Lebanese and Syrian are pretty close to the real thing though but they're at a minority. Also sandniggers.
