So, we all know the double slit experiment, but not why we see the results.

Is it possible that the particle fired through it is simply a formless energy field, and the first point on the sensor that the energy field touches, acts as a focual point for the rest of the energy field to coalesce? And where that is specifically simply varies due to nondeterminate effects in the equipment such as jitter?
