A computer may process an image from a camera and detect shapes within that image, but the computer is not aware of that image. It does not "see" in the same sense that a human would. I think this comes from a misunderstanding of what sight actually is. Experiments have shown that the brain can see and detect objects without the conscious experience of said person, meaning that seeing and the experience of sight are not necessarily the same thing, and that the brain can see without the person being aware that they are actually seeing anything. Now, this shows the similarities between the brain and computers, but it does not explain away consciousness as simply a product of data input.
