That's not it, you idiot. The reason is steel is a smooth surface, whereas paper products are absorptive. More of the virus will be on the surface and detectable longer. Cardboard will dry out the virus and disperse it. It's not just steel either. Plastic is the same because it's smooth and not terribly porous.

Cutting boards in restaurant kitchens where hygiene is important were studied and it was found that plastic boards allowed bacteria to survive more than wooden boards.
The reason was that wood absorbs moisture out of the bacteria and kills them.

As the other anons said probably a similar thing happens with cardboard and viruses.

At the same room temperature, cardboard will keep more heat than steel, because steel is conductive

supposedly this virus love the warmth of the lung
and the cardboard is warmer and more cozy than steel... but coronachan survives 3 days in steel and 1 in cardboard

no you mong, cardboard doesn't keep more heat. it changes it's temperature slower, maybe it takes a few seconds more to get cold depending on the size/shape. since steel is more conductive you feel it colder at touch, but this doesnt mean it's temperature is lower
