The sound, letters, or thought of a word is a way of representing it to us and others. The word itself is how we seperate one thing from another. A word is a representation of a pattern in the world.
OP's image seems to represent low level concrete thinking vs abstract high level thinking. Any idea starts as abstract (chad) and is given words/articulation so the virgin can understand it.
