Does anyone have experience from going through a technician education before a formal bachelors degree?

I did both (bachelors then technician). Bachelors goes far more in depth, but I can definitely see the technician education helping get your bachelors as long you follow the same route (sparky -> electric/power engineer, paramedic -> nurse/doctor, etc)

You understand the fundamentals, which helps a lot. I did EE and struggled with electronics, especially in motors, barely scrapped by with a 1.2 in the class not knowing shit. After I did technicians training and physically worked on motors, I looked back on the textbook and it all clicked in 2 hours.

Started out a mechanic and thought I'd do math after. The terminology is all bullshit. I still can't figure out what mathematical manifolds have to do with the real thing. The other day my profressor was putting trees in manifolds and then somehow performing surgery and I was just so fucking done.

manifolds (im assuming smooth manifolds as you're studying mechanics) are just a way to have continuous functions map from two sets. You need mathematical rigor for any subject in order for it to be legitimate you know.

I went to a technical school (although I never actually worked as a technician) and now am an engineering undergrad. I enjoy all the theoretical work, but I kinda miss assembling shit at the lab, soldering stuff, wiring electrical panels, and so on.

first IT service technician, like basic IT troubleshooting, building and fixing computers and servers, upgrading stuff, etc. Practical work as an apprentice.
then followed by bachelors in software development

now work as a programmer.
the technical experience is handy for soft skills and working experience, and makes it easier to get a job after bachelors.
