The slow rate of mutation seems somewhat meaningless (even if not bad news) because the problem is with creating a lasting vaccine. MERS and SARS have faced similar issues.

No one is talking about this, and finding information about it is like pulling teeth. I was hoping you could provide some more info to a layman like me /sci/

Ive spent the last few days looking through papers and emailing professors trying to find an answer, a friend of mine who is in his final year of residency has been the most help and confirmed my initial post.

If you're the OP of this thread, then by initial post you mean that, that vaccines are useless against *this* specific virus. Right? But aren't vaccines the thing we started using to try eradicate viruses like polio and smallpox? Is that not where the faith comes from?

Also, the image I posted came from a person who seems to believe that all vaccines are created for economic gain. Which I think is a bit of a bold statement seeing that vaccines for polio were given away for free.
