>>11510652Nah, I absolutely received guidance - it was more a matter of me putting things off continually. My current supervisor is a really great guy to work with, and when I was still looking around he put me in contact with past students of his (since one of them did her MSc and PhD at a university high on my list), and was willing to discuss graduate school matters with me at length.
My previous supervisor for the work terms was a different case, and clearly only wanted to groom me to do a master's under him and continue the bullshit, wasteful slave garbage he had me on. BUT, I've had much better experiences with others in my department, and my current supervisor made me realize that with the right people I won't be treated like shit.
The biggest thing I'd want to do over would be to focus in and figure out what's most interesting to me, and who's doing it. Then start early and contact those people, with my work from my honours thesis (and its continuation as work in the upcoming spring/summer) ready to go as an example of what I can do.
