Assuming a very long lifespan (100 years, say), a human lifetime from birth to death comes to about three billion seconds, or thirty billion tenths of a second. In other words, the achievement which has been attributed to the child in the OP's pic is obviously impossible, if what is meant is a memorization demonstration, or a demonstration of individual human ability without computer assistance. So the only reasonable remaining alternative is that the child programmed a computer to "calculate" (this is the important word: calculate, as opposed to memorize, which clearly requires computer assistance per the above) pi that far out, a far less impressive achievement. Just look up an efficient algorithm and let it run for a time, whoop-dee-doo. A cursory search shows that other efforts have since gone into the quadrillions (years ago), making the feat that much less impressive.

That said, if the child programmed a computer to calculate the result, as opposed to memorizing garbage, then he should be commended for his project. I wish him well and he may wish to study computer science or math in the future.

The two sentiments are not mutually exclusive, you're just a brainlet. Children should be encouraged in child-tier learning projects, especially in above-average child-tier learning projects, like the one described by the OP. The point is that they are still nevertheless child-tier learning projects, and aren't the big deal that the OP has made them out to be.

It certainly requires homework and "some doing", but once the program is written, you just let it run. As I hinted above, other projects (group/cloud based efforts, which consideration does inflate the child's achievement, but he definitely had adult help to some extent) have gone to the quadrillions.
