This will likely lead to a lower mortality rate than Italy. Probably closer to Germany. However, keep in mind that Germany is also only 3 weeks into this outbreak and is expected to have a rising cfr, because covid-19 patients seem to either recover or kick the bucket only after 3 weeks. So expect the german cfr to go up significantly within the next week.
However, proliferation is proceeding exponentially under the current US policy. The only countries able to curb the growth so far were China, South Korea, Taiwan and Japan.
Unless the US is following the example of one of these, the US will experience the same exponential growth as anyone else, which will only be stopped by either policy change or when it reaches a saturation point.
Even with a german cfr, you do not want to play dice with 60% of your population.
