How bad is research culture, especially outside mathematics? Are p-hacking, faking data, backstabbers, paywalls, and the reproducibility crisis blown out of proportion or are people seriously that focused on attaining funding? I also feel like getting scooped should never happen in an ideal world. The fact that skilled people work to outcompete each other instead of cooperating seems like a massive inefficiency.
