Philosophy is how to apply knowledge. Think of it like scientists are properly the calculator and philosophers are the people who decide if they need or not the calculation.

Sometimes the calculator tries to be the human too, and starts thinking things like that their personal inferences exist objectively in the data. Truthfully, though, no one cares about philosophy but other philosophers.
You have three options:
>be a good scientist and refrain from making your own inferences from the data
>be a shitty scientist and speak out about what the data means
>be a good or bad philosopher of science and tell scientists either way how they're doing it wrong
