Holes have appeared in my tooth very quickly (I think within 24 hours) and I don't know why. I recently have been given a retainer which I wear 18 hours a day, maybe it's related? I have no pain in my teeth or anything, and I'm not concerned about my tooth being hideous, but I'm worried because if this is due to some bacteria; infection then the bacteria might be doing damage to more important parts of my body (e.g. brain, heart, etc.). I've read that gingival bacteria is neurotoxic and might contribute to alzheimers.
Also, given coronavirus I doubt I'll be able to go to a dentist. Is there anything I can do besides brushing? If I have a tooth infection, is it impossible to stop the bacteria entering my bloodstream just by brushing? Is there any special product I should buy from Amazon?
