So, if I get Covid and recover, am I immune to just one, most, or all of the strains of SARS-CoV-2?

Also, can we have a vaccine that will protec against all of those faggots?

SARS-CoV-2 has a genome about twice the size of influenza A, and there is a negative association between genome size and mutability. Furthermore, it has an an exoribonuclease domain which basically proofreads the genome and also works against the mutation rate.

You can only lose immunity if your antibodies aren't able to detect the virus' antigen, and it takes time and evolution for the antigenic profile to shift. Influenza does it every year, SARS-CoV-1 took 17. And no lol, two strains that coexist right now would not have sufficiently different antigens to mean you need different antibodies for both viruses. The mutation rate just doesn't allow it - their last common ancestor is like 4 months old.

Now if you actually want to read something scary, look into antigenic original sin.

We at least probably won't see another iteration of this specific coronavirus for a while. There are heaps of other candidate pandemic viruses. We actually got pretty lucky that this one is kicking the world's ass and opening our eyes to the real danger of viruses without being "the big one" that completely wipes us out. From what I understand the biggest causal factor for all these outbreaks in modern history is all the advancement we've made in speed and convenience of global travel, which isn't something we can just stop doing.

how negative? is it linear? does twice the genome size mean half the mutability?

also, on top of that, how quickly does the flu actually mutate to where we have a strain that can bypass detection? like if the flu can do that in 6 months, but we only see it yearly (rather than biyearly) because it doesn't thrive in the summer AND covid-19 has roughly half the mutability so as to take 12 months, then we could still see a yearly new covid-19 strain just like the flu, no?

Even if we "eradicate" COVID-19 there will be reservoirs all over the globe where the virus can circulate and evolve until a new major strain appears that we don't have immunity to. SARS appeared in china and was thought to be eradicated there before becoming a global problem. This one is a different story - and has the advantage of being much harder to detect (since it doesn't kill everyone it touches)

No evidence. Only a handful of cases have been reported testing “positive” after recovery and all this means is the virus is still detectable in trace amounts in the body after recovery, which is expected. This doesn’t mean it is still active in the body.
