>>11501100Don't really give a shit anymore. I'm pretty sure that I'm at a turning point. I did my PhD, finished about 2 years ago, and pretty surprisingly, I got some phenomenal feedback back then. The boards that held my viva, various colleagues told me I've got great future ahead if I just keep at it. I've been post-doc'ing for two years now, and kinda sick of it already. The constant fight for funding, having to shit out papers. It's all so tiresome. The only way to get ahead or stay at the top is to play the game of academia. You don't necessarily have to do the best work, just the right work. I might stick around for a few years, see if one of my instrument concepts makes it into space, otherwise I'll fuck off and go earn three times the money for half the work in private industry research..
