Honestly CS is a gold mine and an opportunity everyone good at maths should take- I was majoring Maths until I discovered how easy CS is (and way more profitable than maths)

Every measurement in astrophysics is 99% wrong. When observing astronomical objects more than 10000 light years away, you are taking measurements outdated by 10000 years!

shitting on CS and engineering has nothing to do with the value of those "fields", CS has interesting applications especially in physics and biology, we just hate CS majors and the tech industry. Engineers are actually stupid that are grossly overpaid, the hatred comes from their greedy mindset and innumeracy.

cs has more than interesting applications, absolutely crucial applications for any kind of advancement from some point several decades ago onward. unlike astronomy which is patently useless studying any further from what was known hundreds of years ago when we needed it for navigation. astronautical engg made that obsolete with gps. astronomy amounts to nothing more than gazing at big balls in the sky that wastes millions for this hobby. meanwhile the tech industry is responsible for the very things that enable us to progress and shitpost. sure many of these guys are codemonkeys but thank goodness for them, they are like the lab techs in other majors, do the work no one else wants to do. and i don't see nearly as much shitting on lab techs who are monkeys in their own right.

Innovation is no longer a driving motivation behind developing technology at most companies. That is what they hate. I hate it as well. Go to any CS class at a university and half the people there aren’t interested in the theory or the math, they’re just there for a piece of paper to put on their resume so they can get a job in “programming” and work in a hip, downtown office.

This is true with engineering majors too. I live with two engineering majors. Cool guys, but neither likes what they are studying, they are doing it for the paper and the job prospects, pulling sub 3.0 gpas by cram studying for exams in classes they hate, cause they are too busy to study in general due to having to work all the time to pay for a more expensive degree in a subject they hate(+ no scholarships cause low gpa), and then they sedate themselves with vidya and alcohol whenever they have free time. It's not that I hate engineering or CS, in fact both fields interest me a lot as a stereotypical /sci/ math major, but I hate that most UGs in eng and CS seem to be fucking passionless. I can get along better with art majors and humanities than I can many other fellow stem majors(specifically in the T and E parts of the acronym) simply because they have interests they are passionate enough about to roll the dice and pursue a life in.
