Replication and Beaming things around are the same process of assembling something molecule by molecule from an encoded sequence. Replicators store things so that they can accept a command and convert energy into the exact molecule arrangement it needs to be to match the command, and the Transporter accepts any object or thing so it can break it down molecule by molecule while retaining the sequence so it can quickly rebuild it somewhere else.
The science somewhat makes sense, I mean think of vinyl records; they don't imprint music into the disc, they carve out grooves that replicate the music when run through by a needle. Keeping things alive through the process is likely impossible. I don't see how being ripped apart at a molecular level could ever not be fatal.
