HIV transmission and seroconversion

Medfags, I'd request an answer to a hopefully simple question:

Is there anything medically that can inhibit HIV antigen production when infected by the virus? Why I am asking is that I got tested at 7 weeks past my last sexual contact using a 4th generation test which picks up HIV antigen and antibodies and which turned up negative.

However, I had a weird flu-like sickness 1-2 weeks after the test and I was wondering if it were possible that HIV antigen production could have been delayed by several weeks and what the immunological reasons could be for such an event to occur and if it is possible at all. I do know there have been documented cases of late HIV seroconversion, so asking just to be sure and understand the pathology involved.
