Resistance- the opposition to current in a conductor.

Impedance- the sum of capacitance, inductance, and resistance.

Reactance- the sum of capacitance and inductance.

Resistance is the real component of impedance and reactance is the imaginary component. Resistance is useful when dealing strictly with resistors as it is a simplification of impedance. Reactance isn’t used unless you’re a circuit monkey who’s terrified of complex quantities.

anyone who tells you that reactance is "unimportant" is extremely retarded. reactance is critical in power factor calculations which help ensure that real power (positive work) is delivered.

you are stupid. Reactance slopes are used extensively in microwave filter design. Using an impedance slope in that sense doesn't make sense.

Everyone in this thread is stupid. Impedance is a general concept. It's the ratio of cause to effect. There is acoustic impedance and such. Resistance is impedance but restricted to the electrical realm.
