i asked /pol/ which of these cats has the highest IQ and they said the middle one because of its pure white coat. they didn't elaborate, not sure why. scientifically speaking, how can you use a cat's color to judge its IQ?

Actually it's most likely the first two because they are tricolor. Among strays and mutts it has been associated with higher intelligence, though it's not a linear, automatic relationship.

Best way to tell intelligence, other than actually testing it, would be by breed. Siamese and Scottish Folds for example are among the most intelligent cat breeds.

Another way to tell is by how vocal the cat is. Those with higher intelligence tend to be hypersocialized and very vocal with their owners, almost as if trying to speak with them. Again this is a common siamese trait.

please, anon, explain to us your high-IQ reasoning for why cats can't be statistically assessed on their intelligence. didn't pavlov, an eminent psychiatrist, base his findings on "pavlov's dogs"? or are cats immune to statistical intelligence testing even though human intelligence testing is a common practice?

Yeah they are pretty neurotic.

I had a Siamese cat as a kid. Motherfucker was smart as Hell and spoiled rotten.

He would meow at us and point at the door to be allowed out... one time when we ignored him for a long while, he climbed on top of a shelf, pushed a stack of CDs right to the edge of the shelf but withouth throwing them... just on the edge. With his paw still placed on the CD stack, he stared at us menacingly and meowed again... as if saying "you better let me out or else".

We got him a kitty door after that.

Animals have been subjected to general intelligence testing before, there's a rich body of research on things like dog intelligence, horse intelligence, pig intelligence, dolphin intelligence etc. It should be easy to determine the amount of variance in behavioral traits among nearly any animal.

top lel. sounds like a pretty smart kitty. but by "neurotic" i meant that siamese tend to like, either freak out (like randomly attacking things or running around like crazy) or have weird behaviors (like perching in odd locations or being weird about food or the cat box). your kitty sounds like he was just being a typical kitty except with high-IQ, but the idea i have of siamese is that they are high-IQ but in addition they just do weird freaky things that don't make any sense, like going on top of door frames and jumping on their owners' heads or shoulders when they walk through for completely mysterious reasons

Well I can't report any behaviours of that kind, just a lot of attention-begging, asking for scraps at the table, and being very demanding in general.

He was also kind of an asshole to the other two cats in the house and often got into fights with them, but never with us humans.
