>>11479005The "Good school" meme means fuck all honestly. I'm in Canada and the University of Toronto in particular lets in shitty students into undergrad just to collect their tuition fees (often coming from provincial student loan transfers) and then they fail out in first year.
Not only that - but more and more schools are being pressured to inflate grades, to pass more and more people, and to look at more "holistic" factors during admissions. Its really not all about prestige and grades anymore. I've met so many dumb fucks at the University of Toronto - a top 20 in the world. Its insane. The same for UBC, McGill. Even Harvard is now a lot of "legacy admissions", and "I got a B average but did community service work and stuff".
Not that these things are necessarily bad - a person with a B+ average will do much better in life, contribute more to society, and be generally more employable, useful, and productive if they have better social skills, reasoning, and work-life balancing than some weirdo autist who studies 16 hours a day to get an A.
The best of the best are able to study like the weirdo autist and get an A+ average while actually functioning like normal human beings as well.
