Science has failed.
Science is the only force in the world that could prevent something like the current crisis. Yet it didn't.
Scientists are the only ones that could have modeled the social and economic impacts of a virus like this, yet they didn't, or the ones that did were largely ignored.
If you work in a research laboratory of any area, be honest and tell me what people thought of the epidemic. You also read the papers. You also read the experts saying it was not going to be a big deal. Hindsight and gas-lighting now will do no good to erase this.
Why is it that when science has to step up to the plate, it fails? The scientific method is the best means mankind has developed to model reality, yet scientists seem to be foregoing of it for easy publication, easy grants, easy payments, easy job positions.
How did we fucking get to this point? If a body of scientists strongly said something like this could happen, international organizations would have closed wet markets all around the world.

Yet for the longest time all we saw was the CDC and WHO asking people to please keep their lives normal and not panic or change much. They are more worried one is not offensive in calling this the "chinese flu" than actually protecting people. Why is this OK? Why do any of these people deserve to be called scientists? They are worse than politicians.

Every person that died, and every person that will die. Nobody deserved to die of something so fucking stupid. I'm having an identity crisis. What is science good for?
