Dog training science?
I've hated dogs since I moved out of my parents house. I've had roommates with hell beasts, and in retrospect my childhood dogs were absolute pieces of shit.
I went to Berlin two summers ago and it was a complete shock to see dogs consistently walking around in public just acting generally chill. I've moved to Seattle from the midwest (where all dogs are hell hounds, with dumbass thot owners). Its not at the same level as Germany but dogs behave pretty consistently.
I've tried a bit of informal research and there's two common themes I've found: consistency and exposure. The consistency thing makes sense to me because Germans seem to be a bit obsessed with rules and order. From my midwest experience, dogs are generally just kept at home where they are fed table scraps, coddled for bad behavior (being yippy and what my old roomate's awful thot girlfriend called "the zoomies").
It seems like if you are willing to plan around taking the dog outside the house frequently, exercise it properly, and behave yourself in a manner that's not emotionally inconsistent (retarded) they turn out pretty good.
Does anyone have any good information/experience on raising non shit-bag dogs? Is there good objective information anywhere?
