You ChemE/MechE anons got any suggestions for reading/learning material? I've been surviving off google and product manuals. I didn't even know what a baffle was until a couple months ago, I self-learnt it from a product manual.

Why are pipes round? Is it just to resist pressure? For low-pressure applications wouldn't a square pipe be more cost effective? Or does it wear worse because of the sharp angles

I'm a chemE in specialty chemicals production. It's pretty cool if you like a mix of theory and field work. The pay is ok starting out, nothing crazy ($70-90k). Depends on your interests really.
