How important is mass coronavirus testing? Is it ok for a country to only test patients who are hospitalised?

you have a 1/1500 chance of dying from corona virus if you are under 50

you have a 30 percent chance of getting it in the next 3 years

and 1/500 chance of dying if you get it

you have a 1/100 percent chance of needing a ventilator if you get it so you have a 1/300 chance of needing a ventilator in the next 3 years

in a war these would be minimal casualties.. surely not enough to warrant shutting down the economy like china fuck them

Understandable, its just experts around the globe and WHO were having a fit at the response of some countries
I guess most countries are doing all they realistically can without causing too much economic damage

actually most are doing tons of damage and trying to "flatten the peak" which i think is dumb because its just going to spread anyways

the longer you wait the worse the economic damage
it's just as dumb as that. Countries who are "waiting to see if it gets worse" are absolutely going to get assblasted because it is going to get worse anyway. Unless you're Taiwan or Singapore who contained the thing instantly, and see how that didn't cost them nearly as much as locking people up for a month

There isn't enough infrastructure in any country in the world to do it safely. Think of how stupid it would be to have millions of people going to the same places in order to diagnose a disease that is likely to be passed on while sharing spaces

Taiwan has some of the best healthcare on the planet and everyone returning from abroad is put in voluntary quarantine for two weeks. My step-cousin just got out of his.
