The problem is the best way to do that is to go down the rabbit hole of pure math (real/functional analysis, algebra), but if you do that you will never want to go back to engineering. For you, it's probably better to just take the course and forget about it.
Sometimes I think where I would be had I not minored in math. That minor turned into a double major, then my only major, then my BS, then my MS, and now my job.
