>>11471401>Pearson is the de facto standard>Pushes liberal agenda>Expensive for the quality of education you receive>Professors are not born in Arizona same as some of the student body>Ranks bottom in terms of US universities after 20+ yearsTo put it simply, ASU is run more like a corporation than an actual educational institution.
There is administrative bloat everywhere, and administration spends the school's money on some of the dumbest shit possible (like donating $500k of the university's money to the Clinton Foundation). Every college has 6-10 associate deans for some reason. Meanwhile, there is a lack of money going towards quality instructors or researchers that can secure grants. Mind you this is all happening while the school is staring consecutive years of a budget deficit.
Many of the research centers on campus have a revolving door for directors. Top researchers come here and see what a mess it is, resulting in them leaving quickly or checking out to just focus on their personal life.
Crow is good at marketing the school but we are terrible otherwise. He likes to say we are #1 in innovation, ahead of MIT and Stanford. Have you checked the top 10 list of other "innovative" schools? Most of them are trash tier you would never consider going too
This school is smoke and mirrors. If you HAVE to go in-state, I would say ASU is miles ahead of NAU, but slightly below UA. UA takes research a bit more seriously, but Tucson sucks and Ann Weaver Hart (UA's former president) really set that school behind a years from where it should be.
