The number of cases can't even be approximated due to severely restricted testing. Further the limited tests are being done on those showing moderate or severe symptoms, which the vast majority of cases do not. It's probably much, much lower than advertised.

The (((media))) is hyping this so you run out and buy toilet paper.

This is what I was thinking. A few days ago health officials in a US state said there's probably at least 100,000+ undiagnosed cases going around, and the state only has 26 confirmed cases and 3 deaths. I think there's probably at least 2 million undiagnosed worldwide.
Still very bad because hospitals will be overwhelmed, but I don't think everyone will die.

there's more to life than just not dying and society's reaction to is much more debilitating to people's lives than the threat of coronavirus itself will ever be. i wasn't sure what side of the country I was going to be in and thought my new job might be in jeopardy while I'm trying to right the ship for example. there's millions of different examples like this potentially sidetracking people's lives over a mid-tier virus when we live with much more countless dangerous shit every day of our lives. it's fucking stupid

Yeah, in the sense that you're probably not gonna die from it. The economy is gonna be in very bad shape for a while though. I think there will be a rise in unemployment and quite a lot of businesses could go bankrupt.
