the logic should be, invent an airplane: keep improving safety until it has spent 100 years with no accidents flying 1000 times per day.

Then you wanna improve? ok then. make new airplane, make it fly UNCREWED 1000 times per day for 100 years and then only then should it be legal to let people on, anything else should be grounds for torturing the people responsible to deah, sicne they are objectively torturing 300 random strangers for money.
