>The peak infection in Europe is believed to happen in July or August, but is this with or without measures to flatten the curve?
>Regardless of the answer to that, how do politicians expect to keep countries shut down just until then?
>If the healthcare system is already on the brink of collaps in the this early stage of the outbreak, then how long does the curve need to be stretched and, again, how will they expect to keep countries shut down that long?
It seems to me that a shut down might have to keep going for years if they don't want let the health care system collaps nor let just let the old and the weak die.
Otherwise if the shut down gets lifted for whatever reason the outbreak will fasten up again until herd immunization happens because it's too infectious.
So in the very best case scenario of a shut down it will have to go on for a couple of months and after that we will be economically fucked like we haven't been before, am I right or do I get something wrong here? Because if I am right, then I don't see how this is better than just letting people die and be over with it quickly. Fuck morals if we have to suffer from an economic catastrophe afterwards.
