Black Great Danes are genetically identical to other color Great Danes, but the puppies of black Great Danes will cluster to black labs and black flat coat retrievers. Meanwhile, yellow labs and Golden's will cluster together in a kennel yard. They don't completely segregate but after a week they form into their own cliques. Dogs just like hanging around dogs that look like their mom or liter mates.
Humans really aren't above this. Skin color is an easy behavioral cue. Regardless of your political orientation you need to account for this. For example, putting diverse people in children's shows and integrating preschools (almost exactly the same as socializing a puppy by giving it lots of positive interactions with strange people and dogs).
