I do not panic, yet I care about the people I live with. I do not care about any death statistics possibly being similar to the flu whatsoever. But I can clearly discern that unlike the flu, if not slowed down appropriately, this virus can put a serious strain on the healthcare system and kill especially old and vulnerable people at an unusually high rate, even in highly developed countries like Italy. Therefore I am highly concerned about the health of my fellow elderly and vulnerable citizens and choose to take and support the appropriate measures in order to protect them. I am absolutely certain that the majority of educated and rational people thinks similarly. But your opinion is clearly biased because you appear to take the comments posted on an obscure mongolian basket weaving forum seriously.

I used to think like this, because the death rate of 3% is probably overblown and with proper care it goes down to 0.1% - 0.7%.

However, this spreads must faster than the flu. The R0 is probably around 3. So there is a real chance of countries' healthcare systems getting overwhelmed, in which case the death rate will be higher.
