>>11466381I think you're pretty on the money, and you hit a great point--act like you have it. Don't think you're immune, don't think that even if you pass the illness, which statistically most of you will, you're out of the woods. We're all going to have to deal with the fallout--panic-induced or not, it's having tectonic consequences across major sectors of global industry, politics, finance, health, obiously, and so on.
A majority of people will most likely contract this thing within the first year--it won't be serious for a good portion of them, but depending on how they handle it, they could severely overwhelm health services for no reason other than they're scared of a cough. If you think you have symptoms, and you're genuinely worried, self-isolate. If those symptoms progress, THAT'S when you go to the hospital.
It's incredibly vital that people try and remain level-headed--we can't slip into panic, and we can't backslide into apathy. This thing poses a genuine threat to one of the most consistently and naturally vulnerable demographics across the world, regardless of country. People--especially young people--really, really need to understand that their elder loved ones, aunts, uncles, grandparents, your own parents depending on their age, and even neighbors, are in real danger.
