Hypersonic missiles

So, I've recently had a thought. If a missile is traveling 27× the speed of sound (9261 mps) that would place it firmly within the range of "not being able to redirect itself" once it enters the atmosphere.

Wouldn't this make it incredibly simple to shoot down by the target?

I mean, it's basically traveling in a straight line at that point (assuming it doesn't just burn up when it hits the thicker parts of the atmosphere)

Tell me if I'm wrong, but the target would just need to hit it, with let's say an artillery shell, If it's a conventional weapon.

Throw something dense in front of it and it should be torn apart, no?
