https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5409678/"From a large series of animal studies we may conclude that vitamin C plays a role in preventing, shortening, and alleviating diverse infections. It seems evident that vitamin C has similar effects in humans. Controlled studies have shown that vitamin C shortens and alleviates the common cold and prevents colds under specific conditions and in restricted population subgroups. Five controlled trials found significant effects of vitamin C against pneumonia. There is some evidence that vitamin C may also have effects on other infections, but there is a paucity of such data. The practical importance and optimally efficacious doses of vitamin C for preventing and treating infections are unknown. Vitamin C is safe and costs only pennies per gram, and therefore even modest effects may be worth exploiting."
If you would just take a few minutes to do some basic research, you would find plenty of studies showing that Vit. C, especially in high doses, is effective at preventing or mitigating viral infections and especially pneumonia (which is a key concern of Coronavirus). I have even seen studies regarding new types of cancer treatments involving large doses of Vit. C.
Anyway, you have nothing to lose by taking a Vit. C supplement. It's like 8 bucks for a month supply. If it doesn't work, you've lost two cups of coffee at basedbux. If it works you have avoided pain, suffering, and possible death.
Make sure you also take Vit. D. Vit. D is proven to boost immunity and most people are deficient.
