Searle argues that strong AI cannot have true understanding because it is just shuffling around electrons not knowing what it is doing. But are we not doing the same thing? We are system of biological processes. So why do feelings and emotions exist? Saying that we just became self-aware is a cop out because it doesn't explain anything new. Self-awareness itself can be explained by looking at behavior, yet it feels like to have an identity. How do you define those things? Are they like numbers?
