Pretty useful for matrices and some math/plotting purposes. Other than that, meh. Has some neat built in functions.
Wouldn't recommend learning unless you already know a language since that shit should come second nature if you do.

Maths

It comes with a heap of pre-installed libraries.
Python is still useful for that but you gotta install stuff.

it's not like that. i adopt matlab as a tool to communicate with others, i don't try to force my preferences on people
however, matlab is truly an awful language. python is less awful. scipy is a better alternative if you need an interactive interpreted language
