here is my theory on why the internet is infested with anti-science trolls, idiots, and boomers.
science is actually hard. but most people don't want to feel dumb, like they do when they read science. they want to feel smart. and accepting mainstream science doesn't make people feel smart, hence the popsci hate (and indeed, popsci does not actually make you smart, it just makes you not retarded)
so instead, the trolls and boomers go dig up "esoteric" nonsense. like they read ancient philosophy or obscure religious texts or delve into some outdated ideology -- provided it's not actually challenging mentally -- so that they can feel so leet and redpilled. like these idiots who read julius evola, or worse yet the pseuds who post velokovsky. it's just a cope mechanism -- you look up obscure outdated pseudoscientific bullshit in an effort to claim you have special knowledge.
and the nature of the internet means you can find your circlejerk club, as opposed to any sanity check existing. this is why the internet is a cancerous place and has bred and continues to breed the cancer people of society we see all over today, moreso than a few decades ago. it's not just 4chan, it's the nature of the internet, and the only people who would disagree are the idiots who buy into the corporatized, sanitized, censored things you see on twitter and facebook and the other multibillion dollar websites
