How to study LA/Probability & statistics?

Physics grad here and I hate it. They can't even find dark matter in 2020. I want to love and do math. Help me get started /sci. How do I learn these things like linear algebra and statistics? Free online books? MIT OCW?

Math was the only part I enjoyed. But I feel like I only used it without developing an understanding. Watching Grant on 3B1B explain shit just blows my mind and makes me feel like I never understood the core of math just knew enough "operations" to get around. That's why I wanna learn from ground up how real mathematicians would learn it

People like to recommend LA by Axler and I think its a fine text. LA by Hoffman is a good one too. Make sure it just covers everything from vector spaces, transformations, and inner product spaces

then you'll need to move on to modern algebra. Dummit and Foote is considered the canonical text by lots of professors but Algebra Chapter 0 by Aluffi might be more friendly to you.

Undergrad probability is frankly very easy usually. Some combinatorics and knowing basic distribution functions and when to apply them is all you need. I'd recommend learning statistical inference after. And to have a "deeper" understanding of probability you'll have to first learn real analysis and then get into measure theory.

Ya but he is a physics grad. I think with the internet he could learn more than by possibly being bored with a book like say "David lays linear algebra w/ application" which is a good book (defines matrix multiplication perfectly for example), but it doesn't raise the students mathematical maturity and maybe 2-3 of the 40 problems in each subsection are worth doing and the rest are reading check. And honestly roman is ''easier'' than something like Hoffman and Kunze since you don't have to guess what the author means by some problems.

EM theory mostly requires calculus and classical mechanics too. The only place I really used LA was QM and that too was limited to finding eigenvalues and doing some row reduction/multiplication etc. That was never really the main focus.
