If you wanted to create a large sheet of cells that'd be the way to do it, cause the outer edge has the greatest surface area and you could create the biggest sheet of cells this way. It's fascinating. no wonder animals share so much DNA and embryos all look the same. The math and physics involved in this crucial step must be mind boggling.
