So like, the world has a lot of problems right (poverty, resource mismanagement, unsustainability, artificial and natural pandemics, global warming, nanobots, terrorism, nuclear threats, etc). And also, more problems are going to keep popping up that are even harder to solve than the old problems we are still currently dealing with.

Now the usual answer is “oh well we have smart humans who will solve all these problems for us.”, but there just isn’t enough time and there aren’t enough smart people to solve all of those problems. The fact is, majority of people are sort of sheep and are more than happy to carry on their lives working 9-5 consuming porn and beer until they die. Most people aren’t out there seeking to find solutions to not only the problems we already have, but the problems that we will need to predict in order to mitigate.

Since we cannot increase human intelligence directly, and it will take GENERATIONS and MASSIVE societal change to create an intelligent society that values education, isn’t it easier to make intelligent machines that will help solve our problems with us?
