Help me out with a thought experiment.

Lets imagine a sickness (Bacteria, Viruses, Fungi, Parasites, etc.) that would spread to as many living things on the planet as possible and permanently live inside the organism with minimal impact on the organism.

How would this sickness function?
How would it spread?
