What's a good book to learn basic physics if you don't know jack shit about science and math? Not looking to get a physics degree, just wanting to learn the gist of it.

Nice. I think Feynman's book "QED: The strange theory of light and matter" is more of an informal gist giver than his formal lecture series.

Yes.
Go for the "Six Easy Pieces" book. It contains the most accessible parts of the lectures that aren't too difficult to understand.

i don't think so. he starts very very basic and i think he would at least give an intuitive idea of how to understand any calculus equations if they arise.
