DNA has the information to construct different kinds of useful proteins

But where is the information stored that describes how to take those proteins and put them together into a functioning body? I'm not a one dimensional string of peptides

The bases attract each other based on physiochemcial principles. ATCG and the others. That's how it creates structure. Also the bases are not sufficient for proper assembly, you also need a proper medium (the distribution of conformation depends on temperature, ph, etc. of the environment as well as other stoichiometric parameters) and PTMs.
